Nordea bank first made public its intention to ban its employees from investing in cryptocurrencies in January 2018. Nordea is the largest bank in Scandinavia and as such, its decision to ban its employees from owning cryptocurrencies will deprive 31,500 people of the right to invest in cryptocurrencies.
According to a BNN Bloomberg report on the 3rd of December, a Danish court has ruled that the bank can bar its workers from owning Bitcoin as well as other digital currencies but this ruling does not apply to the digital currency financial instruments the bank has been selling to its customers or any digital currency owned by its employees before the restriction.
The court gave reasons for its ruling citing various risks accompanied by owning and investing in digital currencies.
