Remember that scene in “Grown Ups” where Steve Buscemi’s character is stuck in a full-body cast? Turns out, filming it was even worse than it looked!
Buscemi dished on the hilarious (and slightly horrifying) experience during a recent appearance on the “Fly on the Wall” podcast with his old “Saturday Night Live” buddy David Spade.
Apparently, things went south when rain decided to crash the party during filming of a big scene. “Everyone just scatters” after they got the shot, Buscemi revealed, leaving him stuck there – rain or shine – in his uncomfortable cast.
“I was like, ‘I thought we were friends,'” Buscemi joked, highlighting the lack of post-filming concern for his well-being.
Things got even more bizarre when the assistant director informed Buscemi they needed “a shot where the dog comes up and sniffs your balls.” That was the last straw for our favorite Fargo actor. “Are you f—ing kidding me?!” he exclaimed, understandably frustrated.
Thankfully, for Buscemi’s sake at least, the arms poking out of the cast were fake! So while he may have been wet, cold, and stranded, at least his arms weren’t sore from holding that awkward position for hours.
Buscemi trades the cast for the director’s chair in his latest project, “The Listener.” This unique film, starring Tessa Thompson and her real-life dog, takes place entirely over one night in the home of a crisis hotline operator. Thompson is the only actor to appear on screen, with the voices on the other end of the line coming from a stellar cast including Rebecca Hall and Alia Shawkat. “The Listener” hits theaters and digital platforms on March 29th – hopefully with less on-set drama for Buscemi this time around!
