Owen Wilson just turned down a whopping $12 million paycheck! But before you think he’s gone crazy, here’s the real story:
“The Juice” Isn’t Worth the Squeeze for Owen
The movie in question is called “The Juice,” a film about the O.J. Simpson trial. Apparently, the role Wilson was offered wasn’t Simpson himself, but Simpson’s lawyer, Robert Kardashian (fun fact: the movie was originally titled “Nicole & O.J.”).
Integrity Over $$$
So why walk away from such a big payday? According to reports, Wilson met with the director and loved the script, but when it came down to it, he just couldn’t get behind the film’s portrayal of the case. Sources say Wilson basically told the director, “If you think I’m gonna act in a movie that makes O.J. look innocent, you’re outta your mind!”
A Trial That Still Divides
The O.J. Simpson trial was a media circus, and even today, opinions remain divided. Simpson was acquitted of the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman in 1995, but later found liable for their deaths in a civil case.
The Show Must Go On (Without Owen)
While Wilson might be out, director Joshua Newton says he’s found a “spot-on” replacement and is on track to finish filming by October. The movie will star Charlotte Kirk as Nicole Brown Simpson and Boris Kodjoe as O.J. Simpson.
Will “The Juice” Be a Hit or a Miss?
Only time will tell if “The Juice” will be a critical and commercial success. But one thing’s for sure: Owen Wilson taking a stand against the film’s portrayal of the case is already generating a lot of buzz.
