In a 2012 interview with Anderson Cooper, Adele admitted that living in the mansion was “all quite scary, really.” The Hello singer even revealed that she hired a female bodyguard to stay on the property after experiencing unexplained noises.
Since then, the estate’s reputation has taken a hit, and its current owner, Nicholas Sutton, is feeling the effects. Sutton, who bought the historic home in 2003, stated in planning documents acquired by The Times that Adele’s comments have “negatively impacted future marketing efforts and continue to affect the property’s reputation to this day.”

The sprawling $7.4 million property boasts luxurious amenities, including seven en suite bedrooms, an indoor swimming pool, a guest cottage, an in-ground swimming pool, a tennis court, and lush gardens. However, despite its grandeur, the mansion has sat on the market for 14 years.
Sutton claims that during this time, he has only received one offer, which came in August 2020—but it quickly fell through. Why? Because the buyer discovered Adele’s infamous haunted claims and backed out of the deal.
