Alert! Seems to be Hacked by Scammers! Will BTC Price be Affected?


One of the oldest cryptocurrency-related websites is Which was said to be registered by Satoshi Nakamoto and Martti Malmi. Recently, users noticed that the website displaying a pop-up message asking to transfer BTC to a particular wallet.

Moreover, the scamsters behind the fraud assured double the investment amount they receive. As per the reports, scammers have so far received $17,764. The attempted scam was identified and the website quickly ran into maintenance mode.

The message said that the giveaway event is to support existing users who have helped the platform over the years. And only the first 10000 users could get a chance to participate. Usually, such giveaway scams make false promises of doubling Bitcoin funds after sending a certain amount to a particular wallet address via QR code

Most of the time such giveaway attempts are similar to crypto giveaway frauds ending up incurring an unrepairable loss. Meanwhile, and other sub-pages are not accessible as the current homepage doesn’t allow clicking into any other pages like the PDF version of the Bitcoin whitepaper is not functional.

A pseudonymous operator COBRA maintains the website. In June, the owner lost the case to host the Bitcoin white paper, due to copyright infringement. The same website was hit by a massive ransomware attack in July. The owner seems to be having a tough time, addressing the present hack event Cobra tweeted he is looking into the issue and the website will be down for a few days.
