  1. This reeks of entitled college grad with little life experience mentality.

    Bitcoin is great for the decentralization of a lot of neat things and faster, better, self-directed investments and money transfers, etc. But the moment you start talking about completely separating money from state you have a problem. Funding something like a private police force or public works is possible for decentralized, voluntary finance for a small community. Funding something on the scale of a national military, unlikely. The last thing you want is for the entire government to fall apart on the basis of what your neighbors do or do not feel like paying. There’s a reason that over thousands of years that people have shifted to centralized but population-representative government, often with taxes to fund the mechanism. It works better than any other system that we’ve tried. Taking much of that away because of “well, I don’t want to participate” doesn’t seem like a sound idea.
