Bitcoin currently represents around 0.1% of global wealth. If it ever reaches 1.5%, that would equate to 1 million USD per coin.

  1. tldr; The amount of money that exists in the world changes depending on which parameters are used to define “money.” The more abstract definition of money we use, the higher the number is, said Visual Capitalist editor Jeff Desjardins. Money owed by every single person and country is $215 trillion, with 33% of it borrowed in the last decade.

  2. Your numbers are wrong, this article is from 2017 and has bitcoin market cap at $100bil. Today’s market cap is already 10x that so if 0.1% turns into 1.0% bitcoin will be worth… what it’s worth now

    Not $1mil per coin

  3. I think of it more like gold. Gold is typically 5% or less of a diversified portiolio. So if bitcoin is an alternative then maybe that will change to 2.5% bitcoin and 2.5% gold. While Bitcoin may not be the crypto that ultimately becomes this other option that seems to be the potential upside.

I’ve been wondering why during this time the price of gold isn’t going up. GLD has been going sideways since June of 2020 yet we’re all see all this inflation…so I’m confused why gold isn’t reacting to that?

One theory is the dollars that would normally be going into gold and other inflation assets are moving into crypto? But it could just be people being excited by the SP 500 doing so well so they’re just pulling funds from assets like gold and moving into equities.
