  1. The future, I think, is bitcoin mining chips in everything from smartphones to toasters. The Canadian Bitcoin boiler is a step in the right direction for the kind of circular zero waste economy bitcoin needs to be a part of – i.e. converting energy from mining into something truly useful.

Domestic appliance giant Midea announced in 2017 they had plans to put mining chips in household appliances, so we know this is being thought about seriously.

And here’s the bitfury lightbulb which nerds built on Richard Branson’s Necker Island during their lunch break 😀

When all that starts gaining traction we’ll see total decentralisation of mining happening at the consumer level.

  2. Umm no running an ASIC is as easy as this.

your are participating in a voluntary remote ASIC hosting service for other miners aka a limited selection of pools.

But you are not Bitcoin mining or a miner in any sense. It’s sad people at this level don’t understand the responsibility of Bitcoin miners.

I have literally had someone in this community say that nothing bad will happen if there’s one pool for Bitcoin because ‘incentives’.

  3. It practically is. If I met someone who couldn’t be bothered to set up their own miner I would tell them not to get into crypto altogether. Out of all the things they would need to learn, setting up a miner is one of the easiest ones.
