Block with 0 transactions mined by F2Pool

I saw this block mined very recently with just the coinbase transaction in it.

Why would a miner do this?

  1. Miners, to be more efficient, start mining the next block as they work on the first. Sometimes they find the hash without adding txns to the block. Which gives us these “empty” blocks.

  2. If you find a block and then another within a very short time you might want to propagate it empty. It’s shitty for the users, but for a miner better than lose the block to another miner. Including TXs takes a little time.
