Disney CEO Bob Iger is not here for the drama surrounding Gina Carano’s lawsuit, especially when it involves Elon Musk. The “Mandalorian” actress is suing Disney and Lucasfilm for wrongful termination, claiming discrimination based on her conservative views. Musk, a vocal critic of Disney and self-proclaimed defender of free speech, is backing the lawsuit through his X platform.
But when asked about Musk’s involvement, Iger had a one-word answer: “None.” That’s some serious CEO shut-down power right there. ♂️
Today is an important day for me–I am filing a lawsuit against @lucasfilm & @Disney
After my 20 years of building a career from scratch, and during the regime of former Disney CEO Bob Chapek, Lucasfilm made this statement on Twitter, terminating me from The Mandalorian: “Gina…— Gina Carano 🕯 (@ginacarano) February 6, 2024
Here’s the tea:
- Carano’s lawsuit alleges she was fired for social media posts like comparing the treatment of Republicans to Jewish persecution under the Nazis. Yikes.
- Musk, who once called Disney “racist and sexist” and threatened to go after their board, is throwing financial support behind her case.
- Iger, clearly not impressed, brushed off questions about Musk’s involvement, sending a message that Disney won’t be drawn into the drama.
But the drama doesn’t stop there:
- Carano claims Disney held her to a different standard than male co-stars who made controversial comments.
- She also alleges Disney pressured her to meet with LGBTQ+ employees, which she refused. ️
- Disney has yet to publicly comment on the lawsuit, but their silence speaks volumes.
So, will Carano get her “Mandalorian” role back? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure: this legal battle is far from over.
