Bruce Willis may be known for saving the world on screen, but according to a new revelation, he was also a hero to the crew behind the scenes! Producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently spilled the tea (and maybe even threw some cash in the pot?) about Willis’ generosity on the set of the 1998 blockbuster “Armageddon.”
Willis Makes it Rain (Cash!)
Bruckheimer dished to People magazine that Willis showered the crew with kindness – literally! Apparently, the actor would regularly contribute to weekly cash giveaways for the crew. Bruckheimer said, “Bruce is such a good guy! He was incredibly generous to everyone on set. They’d have drawings for extra cash, and Bruce would throw a ton of money in the pot. Everyone got a nice bonus at the end of the week, thanks to him!”
A True Giver
Bruckheimer went on to call Willis a “giving guy” and a “good friend.” This heartwarming story paints a picture of Willis as more than just an action star – he clearly cared about the people who helped bring his movies to life.
Armageddon: Saving the World and Paychecks
“Armageddon,” which also starred Billy Bob Thornton, Liv Tyler, and Ben Affleck, was a massive hit, grossing over $553 million worldwide. But for the crew, the real reward might have been Willis’ weekly cash contributions!
Willis’ Health Struggles and Enduring Legacy
In 2022, Willis’ family announced his retirement from acting due to aphasia, a language disorder. Earlier this year, it was revealed that his aphasia is a result of frontotemporal dementia.
Despite his health challenges, Willis continues to receive praise from his colleagues. Last May, Arnold Schwarzenegger spoke about Willis, calling him a “fantastic” actor and a “kind man.”
From Action Hero to Real-Life Hero
Bruce Willis may not be saving the world on screen anymore, but his generosity and kindness left a lasting impact on the crew of “Armageddon.” This story is a reminder that sometimes, the biggest heroes are the ones who show compassion and care for those around them.
