  1. tldr; Cybercriminals are targeting Ledger users by mailing them bogus replacement wallets. The hardware wallets are a very popular way to securely store cryptocurrency. Ledger is aware of these scams and has a lengthy article posted on its own website alerting its customers to the risk.

  2. I don’t really understand the point of a ledger when many say the seed phrase is the true key.

Wouldnt keeping a slip of laminated paper in a bolted down safe be better? Or perhaps the free safety deposit box that my bank account comes with?

    What am I missing here?

  3. The article doesn’t mention that the Ledger company was slightly hacked a while ago and the hackers got their user base info which the hackers are apparently using to target people they know already have a Ledger device.

A fairly amazing level of effort that the scammers here are showing but its also pretty insidious and not as random as the article might sound.
