Ed Sheeran might sing about a “perfect” love, but there’s one very real woman who inspires his romantic hits: his wife, Cherry Seaborn.

Childhood Sweethearts Reunited: She’s not just some random muse – Cherry and Ed go way back! They were actually childhood sweethearts, both growing up and attending Thomas Mills High School together in Suffolk, England.

A Long-Distance Friendship: Life took them down different paths after high school though. Cherry moved to the US for her master’s degree at Duke University, putting some distance between them.

A Rekindled Spark: Thankfully, fate intervened! The pair reconnected in 2015 thanks to a mutual friend who suggested a reunion. One hangout later, the spark was clearly reignited!

From Schoolyard Kiss to “I Do”: As Ed himself revealed on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, their reconnection brought back memories of their first kiss – a sweet and innocent moment that clearly left a lasting impression (it became the inspiration for the song “Perfect”). Fast forward to 2018, and Ed popped the question. They tied the knot in a private ceremony in January 2019.

More Than Just a Pretty Face: Cherry is accomplished in her own right. She boasts a bachelor’s degree in cellular and molecular biology, a master’s degree in management and business, and a postgraduate certificate in sustainable business! On top of that, she was a field hockey star at Duke University.

Girl Power Squad: Cherry is also tight with another musical powerhouse – Taylor Swift. The two met shortly after Ed and Cherry reconnected and have remained friends ever since.

A Family of Four: Ed and Cherry are now proud parents to two adorable daughters, Lyra Antarctica (born in 2020) and Jupiter Seaborn (born in 2022).

A Health Scare: In a true test of their strength, Cherry was diagnosed with cancer during her second pregnancy. Thankfully, the tumor was successfully removed after Jupiter’s birth.
