  1. Probably the biggest vulnerability at this juncture is the public’s inability to distinguish between a cryptocurrency where the cryptographic principles prevent abuse by limiting the power of any single actor… versus CBDC Nintendo credits where the cryptographic elements do nothing (yes this includes Merkle trees) because the entire ledger can be regenerated in mere seconds.

  2. Most people I know including myself rarely use cash, most purchases are debit or credit cards. The transition to full digital would be unnoticeable to a huge segment of the population

  3. can people stop paying attention to this overrated nerd? his biggest problem with the us government is its abuses of power, meanwhile he runs over to russia where this issue is 10x worse. if russia had prism, they’d be way more authoritarian than the us had been, and it is ironically the only thing keeping him alive over there because they value his expertise and knowledge of us intelligence. i wouldn’t be surprised if they gave him a condition: make prism for us, or we extradite you.

  4. I wonder if someone suggested the term “cryptofascist currency” to him or if he came up with himself, because that’s fucking clever. While it misses the original definition of cryptofascist (Nothing to do with mathematical cryptography) it communicates perfectly the idea of a trojan horse of government control.
