In her lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Gibson asserts that she was offered a record deal by Derulo in 2021, a joint venture with Atlantic Records and Derulo’s own label, Future History. This opportunity came at a time when Gibson had already established herself as a successful YouTuber.
As part of the deal, Gibson was expected to produce an album within six months. However, she claims that Derulo’s behavior quickly became inappropriate and pressuring, with frequent invitations and insistence on drinking sessions in the studio.
One particularly alarming incident involved Derulo using cryptic language that Gibson interpreted as a reference to ritualistic practices involving sex, leaving her deeply unsettled.
As time went on, Gibson felt increasingly pressured, viewing Derulo’s invitations for late-night studio sessions as veiled demands for sexual favors in exchange for career advancement.
