I mined, back when mining was easy. Have spent. Am waiting with what’s left.
Hehe… it is a good strategy but it is detrimental to the network. BTC is already artificially scarce. If we add natural scarcity to it, like losing keys, or hodling for profit long term, the network will eventually reach an equilibrium point much like the states of matter. It will become either to scarce to be usable, or enter a state of high energy where people actually begin using it day to day because if not, it becomes completely unusable.
BTC is supposed to be a competitor to the USD right? Just like the Federal Reserve classifies USD as a risk, they’d classify BTC as a risk. You should too. Having too much sitting idle, puts you in too deep, and you yourself would be contributing to the collapse of the network.
