The ‘Tiger King’ star is roaring mad over being left behind bars.
Joe Exotic, the infamous star of Tiger King, is once again voicing his frustration after failing to secure a pardon from former President Donald Trump. Exotic, whose real name is Joseph Allen Maldonado, took to Instagram on January 21—just one day after the presidential inauguration—to vent his anger over still serving his 21-year prison sentence.
Joe Exotic’s Plea for Freedom Falls on Deaf Ears
Currently behind bars for animal cruelty and the attempted murder-for-hire of his arch-nemesis, Carole Baskin, Exotic is scheduled for release in 2036. Despite multiple appeals to both Trump and President Joe Biden, his pleas have gone unanswered.
In his latest Instagram rant, Exotic fumed, “If I was a crack dealer, maybe if I broke in the Capitol or even had been related to the Bidens, I might have gotten some relief on being in prison innocent. Hell, the guy who killed two FBI agents even got a pardon today.”
The disgraced zoo owner continues to insist he is innocent and argues he can’t even secure a retrial, blaming what he claims is “admitted perjury testimony.”
Trump’s Wave of Pardons—But No Love for the Tiger King
Exotic had high hopes that Trump would grant him clemency, especially after the former president famously said in 2020 that he would “take a look” at Exotic’s case. However, Trump—who recently pardoned more than 1,500 individuals involved in the January 6 Capitol riot—did not include Exotic on his list.
Trump defended his decision to pardon those involved in the riot, saying, “They’ve served years in jail. They should not have served, and they’ve served years in jail. And murderers don’t even go to jail in this country.”
The former president added, “We pardoned people that were treated unbelievably poorly.” Unfortunately for Joe Exotic, he didn’t make the cut.
Joe Exotic’s Future Behind Bars
With his release date still more than a decade away, Exotic continues to exhaust all legal avenues in hopes of an early release. His legal team has repeatedly pushed for a new trial, but so far, their efforts have been fruitless.
Despite his incarceration, Exotic has remained vocal on social media, frequently posting updates and calling for justice. His fans, meanwhile, continue to rally behind him with the #FreeJoeExotic movement.
Social Media Reacts
Joe Exotic’s rant has sparked a wave of reactions online, with some fans expressing sympathy while others find his complaints absurd. One Twitter user quipped, “Maybe if he sold NFTs of tigers, Trump would’ve pardoned him.” Another added, “At this point, Joe Exotic needs to accept his fate and let the tigers live their best life.”
What’s Next for the ‘Tiger King’?
As Exotic continues his fight for freedom, one thing is certain—he won’t stop roaring anytime soon. Whether he eventually secures a pardon or remains behind bars, his saga is far from over.
