In a significant development, a pivotal witness in the case against former President Donald Trump, accused of mishandling classified documents post his presidency, has agreed to testify as part of a deal with prosecutors, according to a filing by his former attorney. This agreement arose after the U.S. Special Counsel’s office threatened to charge the witness, the head of information technology at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Florida resort, for misleading a grand jury. The witness, identified as Yuscil Taveras by media sources, is expected to be a crucial figure in the trial involving Trump and two other Mar-a-Lago employees. However, this poses a potential conflict of interest for the attorney, Stanley Woodward, who previously represented Taveras. The case stands as one of four criminal prosecutions facing Trump, who is vying for the Republican nomination in the 2024 election against Democratic President Joe Biden.
