In the latest episode of Lil Yachty’s podcast, “A Safe Space,” the rapper opened up about his ongoing bid to get Nicki Minaj to unblock him on social media. He expressed his genuine admiration for the superstar and his desire to reestablish a positive connection.
During the conversation, Yachty revealed, “You know Nicki got me blocked? You know what’s crazy? I’m actually a huge Nicki Minaj fan. I think she’s great. And I’ma take a second in time, to again, for maybe the third time, address Nicki. I would love for you to unblock me because I am a genuine fan.” He also followed up with a heartfelt apology to Minaj.
Yachty’s hairstylist, Arrogant Tae, offered to personally reach out to Nicki on Yachty’s behalf, expressing hope that the situation didn’t escalate further. Yachty began to discuss what had transpired before the topic shifted.
The rift between Yachty and Minaj originated in 2018 when he mentioned to TMZ that he wouldn’t collaborate with Minaj out of loyalty to Cardi B, both of whom are signed to Quality Control Music. Despite his attempts at reconciliation, the tension persisted.
He stated in the past, “As much as I probably would want to, Cardi show me too much love for me to be in the dark about who I side with. I f**k with Nicki though, been did since elementary school… they just twisted my words.”
In 2021, Yachty sought Drake’s assistance in conveying his affection for Nicki. I’ve loved Nicki Minaj since I was a child… I even hit Drake. I’m like, ‘Yo Drake, tell Nicki I love her. I love her to death.’ I checked this morning, I’m still blocked.”
Yachty’s candid admission highlights the complexity of celebrity relationships in the age of social media. The episode sheds light on his genuine admiration for Nicki Minaj and his continued hope for a reconciliation.
