Four months after being hospitalized with a serious bacterial infection, Madonna is speaking out about her ordeal. In a new interview with People magazine, the Queen of Pop says that it’s a “miracle” she’s still alive.
“I don’t know how I survived,” Madonna said. “I was really sick. I was so sick that I thought I was going to die.”
Madonna was hospitalized in June 2023 after developing a serious bacterial infection. She spent several days in the intensive care unit, and her doctors were concerned that she might not make it.

In her interview with People, Madonna said that she’s still feeling “weak” and “fatigued.” However, she’s also grateful to be alive.
