Mining rewards acting strange?

I am by no means an expert but it seems like smaller miners are getting entire block rewards more frequently. Is there a reason that this is happening? Shouldn’t the odds of so many so frequently be infinitely small?

Edit; there have been three in the past 2 months iirc

Edit 2: sample story https://www.google.ca/amp/s/bitcoinmagazine.com/.amp/markets/another-solo-bitcoin-miner-finds-valid-block

Maybe some others I saw were fake?

  1. It’s completely random and the human brain is primed to look for trends in things even when they’re looking at completely random data. The odds of 3 small miners getting the reward in 2 months is extremely small but it was bound to eventually happen. Like if you keep flipping a coin, you’ll eventually get 10 heads in a row.
