Pete Davidson, the comedian known for his short-lived relationships, has reportedly moved on from his recent breakup with Chase Sui Wonders with a new woman: Outer Banks actress Madelyn Cline.
Multiple outlets have reported that the pair are seeing each other, though they’ve yet to confirm their romance publicly.
“Pete and Madelyn are dating. They spent the night together at the Beverly Hills Hotel and then had breakfast together there the next morning,” a source told Us Weekly. “They were really low-key and kept things casual, wearing baseball hats.”
Both Pete and Madelyn are on the rebound, as they’re freshly out of relationships. After her separation from Outer Banks co-star Chase Stokes in November 2021, the actress has been linked to Zack Bia.
For his part, Pete broke up with Chase Sui Wonders following nearly a year of dating only a month ago. The news was reported by various outlets at the end of August, though neither party formally commented on the revelation.
Pete and Chase dealt with a lot of challenges in their personal lives leading up to their break-up, including a car accident while Pete was behind the wheel, only for him to later voluntarily check-in to rehab.
The then-couple was involved in a car crash in Beverly Hills in March 2022, resulting in the comedian facing reckless driving charges. Reports from the incident indicated that Pete’s vehicle had veered onto the sidewalk, colliding with a fire hydrant before ultimately crashing into a residence. Remarkably, the homeowner’s 16-year-old daughter was present at the time but fortunately emerged unharmed, although Pete’s Mercedes suffered extensive damage.
After a thorough investigation, it was determined that alcohol and substances were not contributing factors, but speed was identified as a significant aspect in the crash. Pete’s charges remain pending.
A few months later, in June, it was confirmed by Pete’s representative that he had checked into a treatment facility. “Pete Davidson has been in rehab and is being treated for mental health issues,” an insider disclosed to Entertainment Tonight.
“He can be manic and wasn’t sleeping well or taking good care of himself, so he decided to go to get help, take a break, and get back on track,” they went on. “Pete is focusing on himself.”
At the time, sources said Pete’s decision to enter rehab was self-motivated and shouldn’t be cause for concern (he previously entered trauma therapy over Kanye West’s bullying in 2022 while he dated Kim Kardashian).
“Pete will often check himself into rehab to work on these issues. His friends and family have been supportive during this time,” an insider explained to PEOPLE.
“Pete regularly goes to rehab for ‘tune ups’ and to take a mental break, so that’s what’s happening,” a different source told Page Six.
But it was shortly after completing the treatment that Pete and Chase decided to end their relationship, though it clearly hasn’t taken him long to move on. It remains unclear if Pete and Madelyn are exclusively seeing each other or not.
Analysis:
Pete Davidson’s quick rebound from his breakup with Chase Sui Wonders raises some questions. Is he truly ready for a new relationship? Is he using Madelyn Cline to cope with his mental health issues? Or is he simply enjoying the single life?
It’s important to note that Pete has a history of short-lived relationships. He has previously dated Ariana Grande, Kaia Gerber, and Phoebe Dynevor, none of which lasted more than a few months. It’s possible that Pete is simply not ready for a serious relationship at this time in his life.
However, it’s also possible that Pete is using Madelyn Cline to cope with his mental health issues. Pete has been open about his struggles with anxiety and depression, and it’s possible that he is using dating to distract himself from his problems.
Ultimately, only Pete knows why he is dating Madelyn Cline. However, it is clear that he is not taking a break from the dating scene after his recent breakup.
