  1. Pos strongly favors the early holders. Imagine buying 100 coins for pennies, when the coin appreciates you can dump regularly on the market and still maintain power. Pow is the way to go. Satoshi is genius.

  2. I’m just getting back into crypto after many years and have to learn a lot about what has changed. Not only does PoS sound counterintuitive, but coins that don’t have “core” wallets or allow for mining seem suspect at best.

Maybe I’m just old and obsolete now, but the more I learn the more I think Bitcoin had it right the first go around.

  3. Some points why PoW > PoS :

    1. PoW in addition to the ‘initial capital’ of mining gear (as emphasized by shitcoiners), also needs a significant *ongoing cost* of energy to secure/attack the network. This is not there in PoS.
    2. In case of network/internet partitioning, PoW has a simple and objective solution – i.e the longest chainwork is simply the correct chain. PoS shitcoins will sell you half assed subjective ‘solutions’.
    3. PoW pegs the virtual blockchain world to the real world by using a scarce resource, i.e. energy. Thus, copies or forks of PoW chains also have to ultimately compete for the same limited/costly resource, i.e. energy. There can be an infinite number of PoS shitcoins, whether copies or forks. Even one trade in any of them theoretically gives them a ‘market cap’ and perceived economic value. Theoretically, there can also be infinite fiat ‘buying’ them.

    Say no to shitcoins.

  4. proof of stake would be an empty room. actually it would be a photo of an empty room. or an iou for a photo of an empty room. or a memory of an iou for a photo of an empty room.

  5. Proof of work is more secure but by God, it wastes a lot of energy. Hopefully, somehow bitcoin can migrate into something less expensive energy-wise. We got one planet. We shouldn’t and can’t fuck it over. What would be the point of being rich if you can’t go outside and breathe the air?
