Rihanna Criticized for 'Lazy' $6M Performance

Rihanna’s recent performance at a pre-wedding event for Indian billionaire Anant Ambani has sparked controversy, with some fans calling her set “lazy” and “boring” despite a hefty $6 million paycheck.

The 36-year-old singer took the stage at the extravagant event in Jamnagar, India, where bigwigs like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, and Ivanka Trump were present. While Rihanna belted out a medley of her hits, including “Umbrella” and “Diamonds,” social media wasn’t exactly loving it.

Videos of the performance went viral on X, formerly known as Twitter, with comments criticizing Rihanna’s seemingly low energy. One user expressed, “They could have had Bollywood stars for a fraction of the price and gotten a way better show!” Another chimed in, “I’ve seen more lively performances on SNL.”

However, some fans came to Rihanna’s defense, arguing that the crowd seemed to enjoy the performance and that she’s still a talented artist.

The event, part of a three-day extravaganza reportedly costing over $120 million, saw Rihanna arriving in style with boyfriend A$AP Rocky. Guests, including the pop star herself, were required to follow a strict nine-page dress code for the festivities, which also included a cocktail party, sightseeing, and a visit to an animal sanctuary.

This comes just years after Anant’s sister Isha’s equally lavish wedding in 2018. While the Ambanis clearly spared no expense, the hefty price tag for Rihanna’s performance and the mixed reactions to her set have left some netizens questioning if it was all worth it.
