However, it appears that Andrew has secured a “stay of execution” and has been granted indefinite permission to remain at his Royal Lodge home, following a deal struck with the King. Despite Andrew’s annual funds being reduced and urgent repairs estimated at £2 million, he has already invested over £200,000 in roof repairs, labeled as an “interim payment.” Sources indicate that discussions between Andrew and the King took place at Balmoral in August, during a royal family gathering, leading to this unexpected outcome.
A source close to the Duke revealed, “Andrew’s stance has paid off. He has refused all attempts by the King to leave his home, dig his heels and the King has relented and granted a stay of execution.”
The issue of how Andrew plans to finance the repairs remains shrouded in mystery, as well as details about any inheritance he may have received from the late Queen. The Duke has resided in the historic Royal Lodge since 2004 alongside his ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York.
