Rumors of a backstage brawl between JT of City Girls and fellow rapper GloRilla at last month’s MTV VMAs have been swiftly debunked by JT herself. She took to social media to address the resurfaced claims, stating, “Y’all taking it too far. Nothing happened.”
The frenzy began on Saturday, October 7, when Twitter and Facebook erupted with speculations about an altercation between JT and GloRilla at the VMAs. According to social media users, the alleged incident occurred when GloRilla approached JT for a greeting and hug, only to be reportedly ignored by the City Girls rapper. The reasons behind JT’s alleged snub have sparked various assumptions, from past encounters at a Beyoncé concert to GloRilla’s recent collaboration with Cardi B on the track “Tomorrow 2,” where Cardi is rumored to have taken shots at Nicki Minaj and JT.
An alleged witness claimed that the situation escalated when GloRilla purportedly threw a drink and/or a purse at JT after the alleged snub, leading to a reported scuffle that had to be intervened by event management and publicists. Speculations regarding the incident circulated the night of the VMAs and continued in the days following.
However, the attention soon shifted to the drama involving Nicki Minaj’s husband and his associates, who were reportedly involved in altercations with Cardi B and Offset. Consequently, the rumors about JT and GloRilla took a backseat until resurfacing recently.
Addressing the claims, JT shared a video clip of herself in an interview on X, featuring a “quote of the day.” In response, one social media user remarked on JT’s appearance, to which she replied, “What does that mean? I look rough? Don’t say that!” Another commenter teased JT about the alleged altercation, prompting her to assert, “Does this look like someone who got their a** whooped? I know y’all lives hella boring and y’all love to believe that, but it didn’t happen. Next caller!”
In a separate post, JT clarified that the video was recorded after the VMAs, emphasizing that the rumors had been taken too far. She added a light-hearted jab, encouraging everyone to “iron their khakis for school tomorrow.”
Prior to JT’s response, social media also resurfaced an interview clip of Cardi B, where she advocated for female rappers to collaborate without “choosing sides” in ongoing beefs. She emphasized that it’s ultimately a business decision and artists should work with whomever they choose.
