  1. These articles worked. They accomplished exactly what they intended to. A lot of people, including myself, didn’t believe in crypto because of material like this. Crypto adoption was much slower, and still is, because of the fear that it will just disappear. The “oh, this can be used to get rich quick” aspect of crypto also doesn’t help.

  2. tldr; Bitcoin’s price collapsed on Friday after a user tried to sell more than the market could absorb. The initial problem leading to the price collapse was that one user tried selling more than supply and demand for Bitcoin. However, it appears that this isn’t the only problem. Bitcoins aren’t secure, as both the recent theft and this password problem show. They’re not liquid, nor a store of value.

  3. I mean crashing from $17 to pennies would justify this article at the time.

Considering the sensationalist articles today this one isn’t actually that bad given the context of Mt goxx.

  4. You know what really upsets me about articles like this, is that they have discouraged not only my self, but millions of other people from investing in something like BTC early on. I wish there were some legal ramifications for publishing stuff like this

  5. Is there anyone who got BTC back in 2009 – 2011 who still holds (HODLs) BTC now? That would be a story in and of itself – the temptation to sell it when it hit $10, $50, $100, $1000 – to resist all of that and HODL till it went to > $50,000 is crazy. I honestly doubt there would be more than a handful of people (who didn’t lose their keys/wallets) who are HODLing BTC from back in the day without selling.

  6. Kudos to anyone who bought and held back then. You’re of much mentally stronger than I will ever be. Hell, it took until $6400 for me to buy in and if it hadn’t taken of like a rocket that same year (2020) I would have likely sold.
