Sorare’s fantasy football comes to Brazil with Atletico Mineiro

Atletico Mineiro enters into partnership with Sorare. This allows Sorare to add Brazil’s first Serie A team to the list of teams participating in its blockchain-based fantasy football.

Atletico Mineiro’s players also become NFTs, digital cards that can be exchanged by Sorare users.

Sorare in fact runs a unique blockchain-based fantasy football, in which participants exchange collectibles representing footballers. The scores depend on the performance of the players on the field. NFT prices can vary. Suffice it to say that Cristiano Ronaldo’s NFT was sold in February for $289,990

Sorare grows in America with Atletico Mineiro

The decision to include the Brazilian team responds to Sorare’s need to expand its audience with even more teams, particularly in Asia and America. After all, South America and Brazil are among the places where football is most popular.

Nicolas Julia, CEO of Sorare, explains:

“We’re building a gaming experience fueled by passion where fans can connect with football and a global community. On Sorare, they can truly own the game. We’re proud to launch in Brazil with the legendary Atlético Mineiro and have them Sorare to allow fans globally to connect with their players for the next few years. We’ve been very impressed by the growth of the Brazilian community of fans in Sorare”.

Sorare also caters for the desire to keep teams close to their fans. In this time of pandemic, stadiums in most countries are closed, so teams play their championships without an audience.

The CEO of Sorare explains:

“Given the current climate due to the covid-19 pandemic, this provides a new opportunity for football teams to create interest when live games have been significantly impacted. It offers football clubs a way to diversify their revenue streams”.

An opportunity that Atletico Mineiro did not want to miss. Indeed, CEO Plínio Signorini explains:

“We are delighted to start this partnership with Sorare and to expand Atlético’s brand worldwide, giving our fans the chance to collect cards of our players. We are the first Brazilian club to join Sorare’s platform, something that just confirms our innovative vein”.

The Brazilian team joins 140 clubs already on Sorare’s platform. These include the major teams such as Real Madrid, Inter (newly crowned Italian champions), Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain, to name but a few.
