The current US debt is more than 1 Bitcoin for every single person in America.

If you look at the [US national debt](https://www.pgpf.org/national-debt-clock), you’ll see that right now it’s at $28.4 Trillion. That’s $86,025 for every single person in America.

Currently, 1 Bitcoin is traded at roughly $57k.

Even if you put together all the 21M Bitcoins that will ever be in existence at the ATH price, that wouldn’t be enough to pay the US debt. You would be about $27 Trillion short.

  1. They can pay the debt with printed money since it’s dollar denominated. No need to use something as valuable as bitcoin for a mission like that!
And to the extent that those bonds are on the Fed’s balance sheet they’ve already done some of that. Not like those trillions of dollars of bonds will ever be sold.

  2. lol @ people talking about “the us debt” like even a fraction of it will be paid back.

canada debt: 2.4 trillion: $63,000 per citizen

    brazil: 1.4 tril: $6,600 per

china: 7 trillion, like $7k per person

Debt needs to be measured relative to GDP and the US is not remarkable along that ratio, the US is also a very different market since their GDP is quite different sectorwise than say brazil
