Thoughts on Handshake and a switch from DNS to HNS blockchain internet?

There’s a pretty interesting crypto called handshake that someone I know wrote about recently. Essentially it uses HNS servers which are on the blockchain rather than DNS and bypasses ICANN for domain names. This means that you can create any domain extension you want so long as the browser uses HNS. There’s a rumor that Brave will migrate to HNS as well.

It’s still a super low to mid cap and I’m debating buying some, but curious how likely you think it is that we could migrate to HNS?

Here’s a link to the article she wrote – https://digitalartifacts.substack.com/

  1. Honestly not so sure about this. I mean, I find the use case interesting and could surely gain traction, but mass adoption would require migrating from one of the most important internet protocols, which is not an easy task to accomplish on a large scale.
An example: migration from IPv4 to IPv6 (started in late 90s, not even halfway still!)
