A large UK bank has now overtly banned sending funds to the Binance and Kraken exchanges due to a supposed increase in fradulent activity. I bank with TSB and since March they have been a pain in the arse blocking debit/credit card transactions and making you speak to their security team etc. Before I understood how to do a domestic deposit, they even mysteriously blocked a SWIFT payment I made to an international bank and wouldn’t give me a reason. They ended up blaming an intermediate clearing service.
It is unclear to me if this ban is just credit and debit card transactions and whether you can still do exchange deposits using the ClearJunction Faster Payment Service. I am also unsure what will happen if you try to send money from an exchange back to your TSB account. As usual, these articles have little information for people who are actually impacted by the ban…
Edit: Why is this downvoted? I post some relevant, breaking crypto news to the community, which is pretty significant in the UK. Something that all major banks may eventually do. Perhaps I should have just wrote moons and rocket emojis and called people retard. Is that the right level for this community?
