In a surprising turn of events, reality TV star Jen Shah from “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” and disgraced Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes, famously portrayed by Amanda Seyfried in “The Dropout,” have found an unexpected connection while serving time at the same prison.
Jen Shah was sentenced to 6.5 years for her involvement in a telemarketing fraud scheme, beginning her sentence on February 17, 2023. Elizabeth Holmes, on the other hand, received an 11-year sentence for defrauding investors, commencing her term on May 30, 2023.
Both women were assigned to the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas, and according to sources, they’ve developed a close friendship. Chris Giovanni, a representative for Jen Shah, stated, “Their situations brought them together, and they have a good understanding of one another. They’re getting through it together.”
Giovanni went on to reveal that Jen has been offering Elizabeth advice and has even met Elizabeth’s baby, showing a depth to their connection. Additionally, Elizabeth joins Jen’s fitness class, humorously named “Sha-mazing Abs,” where they bond with fellow inmates over fitness routines.
In addition to her fitness classes, Jen is also providing tutoring for inmates working towards obtaining their GEDs. It’s worth noting that inmates receive compensation ranging from $0.23 to $1.15 for their work, as reported by People.
According to Chris, Jen has undergone significant personal growth during her time behind bars, successfully completing anger management classes and adopting a more grounded demeanor. Contrary to her portrayal on the show, Jen has found a sense of inner peace.
In a journal entry from prison shared on her Instagram, Jen detailed her breakfast, comprising a piece of wheat bread, an apple, two jelly packets, and a packet of instant oatmeal.
This unexpected friendship between Jen Shah and Elizabeth Holmes offers a unique glimpse into the bonds that can form under unusual circumstances, and we hope both women continue to learn and grow from their experiences.
