US Senator Elizabeth Warren: “Bitcoin requires so much computing activity that it eats up more energy than entire countries. One of the easiest and least disruptive things we can do to fight the #ClimateCrisis is to crack down on environmentally wasteful cryptocurrencies.”

  1. Sudden FUD barrage when there are major short positions? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

  2. By the time these politicians get any legislation drafted and passed, South America will be all in on Bitcoin and the energy consumed will be 100% renewable.

Price can wait. Adoption is on the warpath.

  3. How about we calculate how much electricity politicians consume with all their staff (flying around, maintaining offices, communication systems etc.) vs what exactly they deliver as a benefit to anyone?

Maybe if there was a site that gave an estimate of that and showed a list of anything good they did for people, society would wake up.

  4. creating cheap clean energy can be the 4th industrial revolution=massive jobs worldwide and a quick switch to clean energy..just what the world needs

bitcoin can pay for all of this, lol its almost like some type of socialism but without any rulers at least on the mainchain regarding energy useage

  5. On this she’s delusional.

By far the single most significant and powerful thing regarding climate change / harm prevention is to REFRAIN from breeding livestock and especially humans. Everything else you do or don’t do is insignifcant compared to that.

When you can’t take care of everyone already born and ya make more, you’re suffering from short-sighted gluttony.

On a positive note, humans are sabotaging their own fertility quite nicely. Extinction will happen one way or another. Better get ready for it.

  6. She should start with the federal reserve note and all the computers and servers storing digits for federal reserve notes and all the other wasteful computing for the debt note. Oh wait never mind she’s another corrupt cronie.

  7. It’s kind of hard to argue that we’re not going green today 😉

Jokes aside, the cryptocurrency industry is a rare industry in that it actually takes the message of going green seriously. The industry has to in order to survive. Can’t say the same for coal.

  8. She got ratio’d so hard in that thread. Watching Bitcoin’s immune system defend against authoritarian communist degenerates is equal parts beautiful and amusing. We’re just getting started.

What do you think?
