What are the relatively safe ways to earn passive income from bitcoins?

Hi all,

I am getting increasingly sick of my job and hope to get enough passive income to cover my expenses to retire early. I put most of my savings in BTC and have accumulated a few of them. I found [5 different cefi platforms](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1f6DwnVbrBameGwtbtjaW8VGPZgRtRjxyDDyjIFiNL_w/edit#gid=0) that are relatively reliable and now mostly put btc in them earning between 4.5%-7.5% in interests. But the interest on BTC and limit has been steadily dropping. One of the platforms also lost funds in a defi project which makes me nervous.

Are there any other ways to earn some passive income? I don’t mind do some work either. Is running a lightening network node profitable if one can say commit 1-2 btc? Are there projects like stacks you can stake btc?

thanks a lot.

  1. Interest always comes with a risk.

A LN node won’t earn high income (yet).

Bitcoin has appreciated more than 100% per year on average. If I were you I’d just hold on to it and keep working for another 5-10 years. My guess is a 10x from here within the next decade.

  2. Cryptocom takes security very seriously and has very competitive rates, especially if you stake a few of their tokens.

Btw, have a backup plan in mind… Those interest rates won’t last forever, especially for a scarce asset like bitcoin…

No. You’ll spend more on mining fees (opening and especially closing channels) than you’ll earn in routing fees.

Check out JoinMarket for a passive income stream that doesn’t require you to give up custody of your coins.

  4. Im sorry, but your expectations are very unreasonable. There is no amount of safe yield that’s going to let you retire. Even yield will be subject to the price swings bc if the price drops the need to borrow BTC likely will drop as well.

What do you think is going to happen to all these lending protocols if we have a crash like the last one—70%+?
