While CryptoCurrency is still at the top of the headlines, it is a good time to remind people that Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht is still in prison after 2,800+ days. Check out his site and sign the petition to FreeRoss!

  1. “Two life sentences + 40 years without parole”

On the site they say the hit man charges were dismissed. What was he actually found guilty of cause that is a massive sentence?

  2. Because he built and/or ran a multi-million dollar black market drug ring.

Honestly, is THIS the champion we want to select for crypto? is HE and or silk road REALLY what we want to associate with bitcoin or other crypto?

When I see CryptoCurrency topping the headlines, I’d rather it not be due to the fact it is the currency of choice for illicit drug deals, or worse…

  3. For the record:
    – His charges for ordering hits on people were dismissed
    – He was offered a deal for 10 years if he plead guilty.
    – Instead he pled not guilty and was given a 20x harsher punishment

Ross Ulbricht’s sentence was a result of the judge disliking his attitude, which is a terrible and inhumane abuse of power by the judge.

As for my opinion on Ross: The kid is an entrepreneur and hard worker. He provided the market something it needed: a marketplace for buying and selling drugs. He believed in the freedom of a free market and I respect him for that.

  4. Whatever your opinion, guilty or innocent he needs far more exposure. Feel bad for him. Did they catch the other guy he was working with, can’t remember?

  5. Was that sentence long? Yes, he shouldn’t have had his sentence length consider things that they know he did but couldn’t prove.

That having been said, he did super illegal things. Just because you think the silk road is cool doesn’t mean that hiring hitmen, laundering money, extorting the system he created, and trying to run a hidden in plain sight drug ring isn’t illegal.

Before you link the same link you’ve copied to every comment, yeah I’ve seen it. I get he has fanbois and the sentence was high, but I have no idea why after not even 10 years have passed it’s imperative to free him. Life sentence fits his crimes. You can’t want adoption in digital frontiers and want people to get away with crimes because you think hackers are cool.

I get it. “The silk road’s cool because I can do direct business with people and the government stays out of my way!”. I’m all for a harmless black market, but it’s not just buying designer drugs. It’s selling credit card information, nuclear material, weapons, organs, children… So you think pirates are cool, whatever. This one’s a pretty bad dude.

  6. tldr; Over 250 organizations, eminent individuals & leaders have voiced support for Ross Ulbricht’s life sentence for creating the Silk Road. “Why we are ok with a non-violent offender sentenced to die in prison is beyond me,” said former US President George H.W. Bush. “I would pardon him…Two times life imprisonment and never committed a violent crime!” said Ron Paul.{}

  7. I am not signing any petition to help free a guy who tried to have multiple people murdered just because he inadvertently helped bitcoin grow by starting an exchange for drug dealers and hitmen to conveniently sell there goods and services. Nope not happening, where is the petition to keep his dumbass in prison?

  8. Fuck this guy. Do you know how many horrible people thrived off this website). Feds should tack on more years. I do not support the heinous crimes committed on Silk Road.

What do you think?
