  1. Can someone please explain what are the advantages for me as a user and do I get some rewards for running a node?

If so, this would be quite interesting also to support the network.

  2. Not any more, but I did when I was investing in it. The whole point of blockchain tech is that users should be able to do this to verify their own transactions and not need to trust third parties. If you just trust another block explorer then what is the meaning of ‘trustlessness’, and if you value decentralization the why wouldn’t you want to contribute to the network?

  3. So thank you all for your explanations. In general I just want to get to know some more technical details about how all this blockchain technology works, which might be some good starting point to learn about and contribute.

    Regarding transactions and security?
Is this also working if I hold my coins on some exchange or do I need a hardware wallet?

Think if I make some profits till next year I can spend some pieces on new stuff.

  4. I ain’t gonna lie, I’ve built an umbrel node and have had it running for awhile, and I still don’t know how to pair it with my hardware wallet/create a lightning node.

  5. I run a full archival IPv4 / onion node.

Main reason is simply to test various hair brained ideas I have. The answers to most questions I have always end with “do the following on a full node”.

I do NOT contribute to the network in any meaningful way. I keep my full node on my gaming desktop, and that desktop has a power policy that will hibernate it after 60 minutes idle time. I power it up once or twice a day and it takes about 5 minutes to “catch up”. When I’m gaming I pause the node threads.
