Why are there empty blocks in in the blockchain?

It is not unusual to see empty blocks (with 0, 1 or very few transactions) in the block chain.

Here is a very recent example.

What its the explanation of this? Why are miners generating empty blocks and renouncing to transaction fees?

Thanks!

  1. the block gets commited when ever the hash is right. A right hash can be found even when no transactions are in the block.

It’s not that hard to understand.
