Rapper Jeezy has broken his silence on his impending divorce from Jeannie Mai, calling it a “heavy heart” decision.
In a statement released on Thursday, Jeezy confirmed that he filed for divorce from Mai in September. He wrote that the decision was “not made impulsively” and that he still loves and respects Mai.
“Despite this, my love and respect for Jeannie remains and the time we spent together holds a cherished place in my heart,” Jeezy wrote. “Our beautiful daughter is the best gift from our relationship and I am committed to assuring she feels the love and stability she deserves.”
Jeezy concluded by asking for privacy as he and Mai navigate their divorce.
Mai has also spoken out about the divorce, calling it “devastating” but saying that she is grateful for her daughter.
