Dolly Parton Defends Duet with Kid Rock, Slams Cancel Culture

Dolly Parton is standing by her decision to collaborate with Kid Rock on her upcoming album, Rockstar. Despite Rock’s history of controversial remarks and actions, Parton says she doesn’t “condemn or criticize” him and believes that everyone deserves a second chance.

“I’d have probably still done it [recorded a song with Kid Rock],” Parton said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “He is a gifted guy, and that song was about a bad boy; it was about a boy that was cheating and mistreating her.”

Parton also took the opportunity to criticize cancel culture, saying that she thinks it’s “terrible.”

“I think that’s terrible,” she said. “We all make mistakes. We don’t all get caught at it. But also when somebody makes a mistake, it depends on who they are. That’s what God is there for.

Parton’s comments are sure to stir up some controversy, but she’s clearly not afraid to speak her mind. Rockstar is set to be released on November 17th.
