NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo, a member of a prominent Democratic family, said he would consider voting for former President Donald Trump in 2024. Cuomo made the remarks during an appearance on the PBD Podcast, hosted by Patrick Bet-David.
Cuomo, who was a CNN anchor during the 2016 presidential campaign, said he interviewed Trump “routinely” and that Trump “made life hard” for his family. However, Cuomo also said he believes the country is stronger than any individual leader and that he is not afraid of another Trump presidency.
“I don’t think there’s any greater risk to America with him than with Biden,” Cuomo said. He also said that he believes the country survived the Trump administration and that it can survive another one.
Cuomo’s comments are sure to stir up debate among Democrats, who are already divided over whether to support Biden in 2024. Some Democrats believe Biden is too old and too out of touch to be president, while others believe he is the best choice to defeat Trump.
Cuomo’s comments also come as Trump is increasingly flirting with the idea of running for president again in 2024. Trump has not yet made a formal announcement, but he has repeatedly hinted that he is interested in running.
If Trump does run, he is likely to face stiff competition from within the Republican Party. Several other Republicans, including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, are also seen as potential candidates.
The 2024 presidential election is still two years away, but it is already shaping up to be a contentious one. Cuomo’s comments are just the latest sign that the election is likely to be a closely contested one.
