Prince William stepped out for a somber occasion this week, attending the private funeral of Thomas Kingston, husband of Lady Gabriella Windsor.
The low-key service, held at the Chapel Royal in St. James’ Palace, saw around 140 mourners gather to remember Kingston, who tragically passed away last month at the age of 45.
Noticeably absent was William’s wife, Kate Middleton. The Duchess is still recovering from recent abdominal surgery and has also faced media scrutiny surrounding an edited photo released for Mother’s Day.
A Family in Mourning
News broke last month that Kingston, a former flame of Pippa Middleton, had died by suicide. [Insert helpline information here].
Despite their split, Pippa reportedly remained friendly with Thomas, and both he and Lady Gabriella even attended Pippa’s wedding to James Matthews in 2017. The couples reciprocated the gesture, with Pippa and James attending the Kingstons’ wedding in 2019.
A Life Remembered
Lady Gabriella, a cousin of King Charles, may not be a working royal, but she was often seen alongside Thomas at major events like Trooping the Colour and the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
This sad occasion comes as the Middletons navigate their own private challenges. While details surrounding Kate’s absence are unknown, thoughts are certainly with the family during this difficult time.
